MICHAEL CURRY

Michael’s early interest in art and design led him to further study and completion of a Diploma in Architecture at the University of South Australia in 1994. With the realisation that he was more of a ‘hands on’ person, his focus shifted to building and his own renovation projects. He obtained a builder’s licence in 2005 and established his own business in January 2007, which he has been operating successfully ever since.

He enjoys working and collaborating with a team of skilled tradespeople to see the evolution of a building concept come to life as a high quality finished product. His background in architecture enables him to understand the design concept and picture the finished product with clarity and perspective. Working on high-end building projects, Michael specialises in complicated builds with a strong focus on luxury and quality. His experience and reliability is key to his high client satisfaction.

Consultation and development of the brief with the Client in collaboration with their chosen architect.

The first step of any project is the relationship-building and initial discussions with the clients. We develop an understanding of a client’s expectations and budget as well as communicating the range of services that BLD7 can deliver.

Collaboration with the Client to develop a tailor-made solution to the Client’s brief

A successful project for BLD7 is always a collaboration between us and the client, a two-way conversation where we build out their brief, providing our creative and practical input to shape the project to achieve the client’s objectives.

Creation of the plan for the project

BLD7’s process is to work through all elements of specification, procurement and scheduling to construct a detailed plan prior to commencement of any work, allowing for your design to become your reality.

Construction of the project

The construction phase is where the physical work and our project management begins. Materials are delivered to the site in line with our construction schedule and our quality tradespeople work together seamlessly to execute our detailed plan.

Coordinate the execution of the project, project management of materials, trades, and schedule

This is where BLD7’s project management skills come to the fore. Our years of experience in this area enable our clients to have total confidence in our capability to manage their project. We take a hands-on approach to guarantee our project is delivered to the client’s complete satisfaction.

Compliance covering of all aspects of required documentation and regulatory processes

Ensuring a BLD7 project meets all compliance, legal and certification requirements is a vital part of our process.

Completion, handover of the successful project to the Client

This is the culmination of our process taking place after all the scope of work in our contract is completed. We walk the customer through the project, conduct a final inspection, handing over the relevant documentation and keys to the property. A successful handover to a client is our measure of the project’s success.

We also maintain ongoing partnerships with our suppliers allowing us to access premium products at cost-effective prices.

This enables us to consistently deliver projects of outstanding workmanship and exceptional quality for our clients.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable practices are at the heart of all BLD7 builds, with a mindset to minimise the environmental impact of our projects across a number of activities. This includes implementing, where possible, efficient supply chain management, sourcing sustainable materials, reducing use of harmful chemicals and compounds, efficient water usage, waste minimisation, and energy usage reduction strategies.

Because BLD7 focuses on sourcing the best quality materials and ensuring our projects are built to stand the test of time (both in style and quality). We are therefore confident that our builds will be standing long into the future, eliminating any need to rework, and further reducing waste.

BLD7 uses locally acquired materials where possible, reducing the carbon footprint of builds as well as supporting the local economy. We use quality insulation on our homes, keeping them warmer in winter and cooler in summer to keep energy use down.

Over the 20 years I have worked with Michael we have successfully completed 30 projects, ranging in cost from $100,000 to $6,000,000. These projects cover a wide range of residential buildings from renovations, extensions and new builds through to high end residences, with no expense spared.

Michael’s work ethic is of the highest standard, following through with completion of works at the end of the Defects Maintenance Period, to the ultimate, complete satisfaction of the client. He has an excellent relationship with his trades who, together with Michael, bring to each project a friendly and professional attitude. He has a thorough knowledge of the building process, and his site work schedule is constantly checked and updated monthly, to provide the client with full knowledge of the financial status of the project.

It has been a pleasure to work with Michael over these past years and I hope this continues for many years to come.

I have been working with Michael Curry since 2008 on many projects over the years. Most of the work includes extensions and renovations with intricate stonework on the house, as well as retaining walls, stone fences, ponds, entry steps, and garden edging. We have used many types of stone on his jobs from local sandstone, bluestone, limestone and granite.

Michael’s understanding and ability to coordinate, problem solve, and work with trades, suppliers, engineers, owners and architects is of the highest level. He is very organised and provides plenty of lead time for upcoming jobs, which as a trade to coordinate my own team is so important. His administration organising contracts, variations and the like is first class.
